Position: Water Distribution/Water Treatment Operator (Full-Time)


Starting Salary: $27 to $32/Hour (could be more depending on experience) Routine Schedule: 7 AM-3 PM, Monday through Friday (40 Hours/Week)

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

Operating and inspecting equipment, pump stations, chlorination stations, reading gauges and meters, adjusting equipment to perform as specified, completing daily and monthly records, taking corrective action as necessary to keep equipment functioning smoothly, performing routine inspection and maintenance at treatment facilities and pumping stations, performing backflow prevention device tests and cross connection surveys, maintaining facility appearance and clean work areas, performing distribution system repairs, flushing, valve maintenance, snow plowing, fire hydrant maintenance, lawn mowing/weed whacking, meter repairs/replacements, assisting other staff, working rotational shifts (inc. weekends/holidays) and after-hours emergencies, being able to work in extreme weather conditions for long periods of time if necessary and any other assigned duties.


Licenses
• Valid Massachusetts Class D Driver License with safe driving record
• Massachusetts Grade 1 Water Treatment Certification or higher
• Massachusetts Grade 2 Water Distribution Certification or higher
• Preferred Massachusetts Class 2A/1C Hoisting License
• Preferred: Massachusetts Cross-Connection Surveyor and Backflow Prevention Device Tester


*Note: Relevant experience may substitute licenses as appropriate. The right candidate will be willing to learn and expresses enthusiasm for pursuing his/her education.


Qualifications
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English
• Ability to physically complete all assignments, including entering confined spaces,
crouching/kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 100 lbs., etc.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility-required Personal Protection
Equipment, (OSHA Certification preferred)
• Ability to efficiently test and operate equipment such as pumps, motors, VFDs, back-up
generators, valves, gates, chemical feed systems, etc.
• Ability to use SCADA and Microsoft Office to record data and prepare reports for MassDEP/EPA
