Drinking Water Emergency Tabletop Exercise: Preparing for the Inevitable (#2023-14)

Emergency exercises are an important step to ensure water systems are prepared to deal with emergencies that threaten their missions. In addition, they are the most practical, efficient, and cost-effective way to prepare and to improve emergency response plans. A significant benefit from emergency exercises is the opportunity for people to work together practicing their roles and responsibilities and gaining emergency response proficiency.

Join us as we facilitate a group “tabletop exercise” to test communications and responses by the attending water systems. The emergency exercise scenario(s) selected (e.g., natural/extreme weather event, man-made emergencies) will threaten the systems’ critical assets and vital services. The scenario(s) selected will be based upon the attending water systems.

Topics:

  • Exercise Purpose, Objectives, and Rules
  • Roles of the Participants
  • Scenario Setup
  • Group Tabletop Exercise
  • Hot Wash/After Action Review
